“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”

What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing is an evidence-based, therapeutic practice that connects people to the natural world through gentle, sensory-based activities. It originated in Japan where it is known as Shinrin Yoku which roughly translates as taking in the forest with all your senses.
This meditative practice helps you to switch off, connect with nature and support your well-being.
Forest Bathing has a wide range of benefits, it has been shown in studies to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system, and improve mental health. Read more in the Blog.
Our forest bathing walks and workshops are based on the Forest Therapy Hub method and Liquid Interactions Model. This holistic approach promotes the five stages of health: physical, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental, through a carefully crafted series of nature connection activities in green spaces.
What happens during a Forest bathing walk?
During a guided forest bathing walk, our certified guide will lead you on an experience of connecting to the forest through all 5 senses. We will engage in a range of exercises or “introductions” to explore the sights, sounds, smells, textures and tastes of the forest.
Who is it suitable for?
Forest bathing walks are suitable for children over 16 years old, and for all fitness levels. Unlike a lot of other outdoor activities, Forest bathing is well-suited for those who are less active and may not normally take long walks outdoors. It’s gentle, inclusive, pleasurable and welcoming.
What to bring?
Forest Bathing walks move at a slow pace so please make sure to wrap up nice and warm. More clothes are needed than for a normal walk in the woods. We recommend layering up so you can always remove or add a layer as required.
- Plenty of warm layers of clothing
- Good sturdy footwear such as walking shoes, boots or wellies
- A hat, gloves, scarf and double socks in the cold weather
- A sun hat and/or sunglasses in summer
- Waterproofs
- Sun lotion when hot
- Medication
- A drink and a snack
- A yoga or waterproof mat (or camping chair if getting to ground level is difficult).
